Come On My Soul, or Time to Look Up

Colossians 3:1-2

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is , seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on the things above, not on things that are on earth.

In recent weeks I’ve been kind of up and down.  Some days I’m excited about life while others I’d rather hold up in my office and keep to myself.  On the down days I wrestle with selfishness and a desire to “relax” and “enjoy myself.”  But to be honest, it’s just laziness.  To parody LMFAO, “I’m lazy and I know it” (which if you look up the definition of parody makes it all the more humorous).

And it’s crazy to me that I act this way because in my mind I know better!  God has placed an urgency in my heart with an understanding of the things to come to serve Him and everyday I have to do battle with myself on whether I will move for Jesus or remain static.

I love this song.

Come on my soul, come on my soul

Let down the walls, and sing my soul…

Come on, come on, come on, come on

It’s time to look up.

Those are all of the lyrics.  It’s so simple, yet it resounds in my soul.  It stirs me as it echoes the cry of my heart!  In case you didn’t know, God is good.  And to you, my brothers and sisters, who are weary look up.  Look up to heaven with the eyes of your soul and allow the Holy Spirit to stir you.  There is so much work to be done, and we have a job to do.  Let’s start by worshiping together.

2 Corinthians 4:16,18 (paraphrase)

So we do not lose heart…as we look not to the things but to the things that are unseen.  For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
