Adoption Update

Another month has gone by and what a month it’s been for my family and I.  As I previously mentioned, we are in the process of adopting our daughter from India, and while there has been a major hold up with the Indian government we have been officially approved with the US Customs and Immigration Service.  Basically, it means that we have been officially cleared on the American side to adopt, and now we are just waiting on India to catch up.  There are a few more steps in the process once we’ve been approved by India and formally matched with our child, but for now, please pray that the hold up in the process would pass and that we would be matched in the next week or two.

If anyone would like to donate toward the financial cost of bringing our daughter home you can do so on our Continue to Give campaign.  Funds raised will go toward adoption expenses such as, government fees, attorney fees, travel to India, etc.

Likewise, if you or anyone you know would like to help with the cost of preparing to meet her special needs, we are running a fundraiser for that as well at on Bonfire where you can get a shirt, tank, or hoodie that reads “Love. Advocate. Inspire” and “#StrongParentsStrongKids”.  Funds raised through the Bonfire campaign will go toward things like a wheel chair, accessibility renovations, and other tools to meet her needs.

Book Update

The goal was to have Lessons from Jesus written, published, and ready for distribution by the end of this week, however with the adoption stuff and some other personal matters that came up over the last month, I haven’t had much time to really work on it for the last few weeks.  I would like to say that I can wrap it up in the next couple of weeks, but truth be told, I have a lot going on and if we are cleared and matched by India, the adoption process is going to really start picking up.  I am going to shoot to have it finished and released by early November, but depending on how quickly we have to proceed and how much time I will need to dedicate to work, family, and further studies, I may not get it out until closer to Christmas.  If anyone is actually really looking forward to it, I apologize for the delay; however this is a hobby of mine, and I have to prioritize it as such.

Blog Update

As life picks up my goal is to publish more short-form content.  This may be more in the form of blogging through song posts, or even just quick thoughts on bible passages and news clips.  Please pray that I could find a new job with a more regular schedule and that after we bring our daughter home that we can once again find a more level pace of life.

Podcast Update

Now, in light of all I’ve mentioned so far, I wanted to make an announcement regarding the podcast.

When I started the show last year, I thought it would be fairly simple to produce, yet after 16 episodes, I have a new appreciation for the process of content creation.  But as I mentioned in the book update, while this is a ministry, it is all a hobby and podcasting is an additional expense that I cannot afford right now in addition to the thousands of dollars that go toward the adoption.

With that in mind, I had to make a decision regarding the future of the show; and so I am sad to announce that episode 17 which will be released next Saturday will be the final episode for the time being.  I really enjoy podcasting, and I do not think this will be the end for good.  My hope is that once life settles a bit more, I can relaunch the show, and possibly even be able to afford some better equipment to produce it with the quality that I wanted from the beginning.

If you are subscribed via a podcast player or directory, the feed will remain live until 9/13 at which point the hosting service ends.  I will do my best to get all of the episodes up on YouTube and to move the audio over to the Internet Archive.
