With the start of another new year most of us have our goals and resolutions in mind. For me I plan to lose some weight and to continue my professional development, but I also want to get back into writing. Over the last few months I’ve taken a much needed break from news, politics, and most other responsibilities I placed upon myself and during the break I spent time with my family and rested in God’s grace as I pondered what to do next.
First, I suppose I should apologize for keeping you waiting. I meant to publish this last week as we rolled in to 2019, but I still wasn’t quite sure where to go with all of this. Over the last week, however, I’ve thought and prayed about what to do with this blog and I feel like it’s time to start writing again. With all of that said, here is a quick rundown of what the plans are (for now, in pencil…) for Ancient Abandon in 2019.
Weekly Content
The first goal for 2019 is to publish at least one post each week moving forward. That may be a Q&A, a word study, a song, a video, a podcast review, etc.
New Voices
As you may know if you’ve been subscribed to and following Ancient Abandon over the last year I have been searching for contributors to share their insights on the blog because I really want to see Ancient Abandon develop beyond being my little blog into a community driven and curated platform of wisdom and ideas. With that said, starting later this month you will begin seeing content from others on the blog, and perhaps elsewhere… (that’s what we call a teaser!)
New Forms of Content
In addition to the standard blog posts I have a number of other projects in the works including ebooks, a variety of studies on things like technology and current events, contests and giveaways!
A New Podcast
After wrapping up the Ancient Abandon Podcast last summer I took some time to think about what worked, what didn’t, and what I would do differently if I had the chance and I am excited to announce that a new podcast will be starting later this year. I feel like a major flaw the first season had was that I started it very quickly and therefore it lacked direction. I want to take some time before diving back in to clearly lay out what this new show is about and to get some new equipment to produce a better quality end product.
Social Media Presence
So I’ve never been the best at social media aside from the memes. I’m not really a fan of platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat however I recognize their importance for platforms such as Ancient Abandon. I’m not exactly sure what 2019 will hold as far as working with these platforms as I have a personal resolution to remove my personal accounts from these (and other) platforms this year so if any of you have ideas on how to best handle these changes be sure to reach out!
It is my prayer that 2019 will be a great year and that this site will be used by God to accomplish his plans for you everyone who stumbles upon it.
